About Pilates

Pilates is an exercise modality developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. It concentrates on strengthening your entire body whilst improving flexibility with an emphasis on core strength.
The technique helps rebalance the muscles around the joints, promotes better balance and aids in the prevention of injury by improving neuromuscular control, body awareness and better alignment.

Who is Pilates for?

Everyone can benefit from Pilates as there are endless modifications which enable the technique to be as challenging or remedial as required. There are no restrictions to age, ability or fitness background.

Hello, I'm Jane!

I’ve been teaching for the last 23 years in Australia, Europe and London where I ran my own Pilates and Gyrotonic® practise in Chelsea for 16 years. I currently reside in Australia but with online teaching, I can be in France, the UK and New York one day and on a boat in the Med the next.

I was first introduced to Pilates at the Australian Ballet School but didn’t truly appreciate the efficacy of the technique until I suffered from a chronic back injury. Pilates was my saviour – not only did it prevent me from enduring serious spinal surgery, but enabled me to continue performing pain free for many years.

I originally trained as an apprentice at DMA Clinical Pilates in Australia and then gained accreditation in London with Alan Herdman, who pioneered Pilates in the UK, BASI (Body, Arts and Science International), The Pilates Foundation UK and through a number of first generation teachers such as Lolita San Miguel, who were taught by Joseph Pilates himself.

Aside from Pilates, I am a qualified Gyrotonic® instructor (trained under the original founder Julio Horvath in Germany), MOTR® instructor, gym and fitness instructor (Victoria University) and graduate of The Australian Ballet School.
